From bitter to beloved Maremma!

Vita in Maremma
From bitter to beloved Maremma!

It's not always easy to speak about and describe the land in which you live.

To speak about Maremma can be easy and in recent years many people have written and explained this land. However, to do so in an original and interesting way is not as easy.

For this reason, I'll speak to you about my Maremma and how, even though I have travelled extensively, it has always drawn me back!

I was born in Rome and spent my infant years in Lazio (in the Tuscia area of the Viterbo province). Yet at an early age I moved to Montemerano in Tuscan Maremma for family reasons.

I immediately fell in love with Maremma, admittedly also thanks to my Maremman Shepherd dog, Bobo. It's a land that, day after day and in every stage of life, has many wonderful surprises in store for you.

The adventures of a child who transforms the little thicket near his house into a forest full of mythical adventures, the pleasant work in the fields with the sheep and in the vineyard together with your dad and brother, the days (and nights) spent as a teenager bathing in the thermal waters of the Mulino waterfall in Saturnia or down at the most beautiful seaside in the world, are all experiences which have inextricably tied me to Maremma.

So, it's easy to see how Maremma has been an integral part of my development and still accompanies me in my work and my passions.

I have always tried to speak about, and explain this land to those who do not know it well. I have talked to friends, Villa Acquaviva guests, acquaintances or people met during my travels, of why visiting and living Maremma is an absolute must.

Thanks to my passion for the web and social networks, I have tried to share even more of this love of mine for Maremma. I have created IgersMaremma, been part of Maremmans from the very beginning, and from August I have also become an official account manager (together with Chiara and Nicola) of Instagramers Grosseto for the national community of Instragramers Italy.

In the past, Maremma was a 'bitter' place because of malaria but it has, in my opinion, always shown a kind and welcoming nature. Behind that sinister appearance it hid incomparable beauty.

Maremma is not only pristine nature, but also history, culture, food and great wine. It hosts a population that is as brusque as it is welcoming and kind. But above all, it lives life at a truly unique pace.

I hope to have aroused your curiosity and stimulated you to get to know this land which is part of famous 'Tuscany', but is still far from its fame, and therefore pristine.

If you like, it will be a pleasure for me to be at your service and explain this area in more detail or simply suggest places to visit or where to go to live first hand a less touristy and more genuine atmosphere and pace of life.
